Question: What is a domain name?
Answer: A domain name is an Internet address (example: nyborllc.com). This is human-readable address convention used to find resources on the Internet. These include web sites, email addresses, and other Internet services. Many people choose catchy domain names to promote their business, hobby, or family web site. (example: yourcompany.com).
Question: Why are your .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz and .us domain names only $35 a year? Are there any of hidden fees?
Answer: .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz and .us domain names are only $35 per year through nyborllc.com. There are no additional fees or hidden charges. In addition to providing domain names for only $35 a year, we have many value added services that you can use with your domain names.
Included for free with all registrations is DNS Plus Advanced DNS Management. Many domain and hosting companies charge an extra $20 per year for this service!
Question: I thought I could only register domain names through Network Solutions?
Answer: A few years ago Network Solutions was the sole controller of domain name registrations. That has since changed, allowing new domain name registrars to provide competing services.
Question: Are you an ICANN accredited registrar?
Answer: Our parent ISP, Nyborllc.com.com is an ICANN accredited as Central Registrar, Inc.. Nyborllc.com.com is also an authorized Registration Service Provider (RSP) of ICANN accredited OpenSRS, domain name registrar. OpenSRS is a TUCOWS company.
Question: My domain is expired, now what?
Answer: Domain Name Expiration Date:
Once the domain name expires the domain will be deactivated. All domain services including the web page and email will no longer work.
Domain Name Grace Period (35-40 days):
A domain name, if not renewed before the expiry date, will be in a "grace period" for approximately 35-40 days. During this time the domain name will not be active and may be renewed by the original owner by paying the normal renewal cost. It will take 24-72 hours before the domain services will propagate.
Domain Name Redemption Period (25-30 days):
At the end of the Grace Period, the domain will enter into a 25-30 day Redemption Period. WHOIS information (name, address, telephone numbers, etc.) will be deleted. The domain will still be inactive. The domain may be renewed by its original owner for $150 US plus the normal renewal fee. It is a manual process for the registry to add the name/address information back into the domain registry records, therefore, the process may take several days.
Note: This Redemption fee is imposed by the Registry, not by nyborllc.com.
Domain Name Deletion:
3-7 days after the end of the redemption period the domain name will be deleted from the registry and will be available for anyone to register.
Question:
How do I transfer a domain name?
Answer: Currently, .com, .net, .org, .us, .info, .biz, .ca and .cc domains can be transfered to nyborllc.com. Domain name transfers cost $21 and will extend the expiration date of your domain 1 year. (.uk domains can also be transferred, but it is a separate process). Because domain transfers require a high degree of coordination between many parties, the process will take longer than a domain registration. Please allow between 7-10 days for your domain name to complete its transfer process.
In order for a Domain Transfer to be successful the following pre-conditions must be met:
* The domain name must have been registered for more than 60 days.
* The current admin contact's email address must able to confirm the transfer request.
* Domain must not be "On-Hold" by the current registrar. This condition can exist for many reasons, including lack of payment or domain expiry.
To begin the process of transferring your domain, go to the Transfer Page.
Question:
How long does it take for a domain name transfer to be completed?
Answer: Because domain transfers require a high degree of coordination between many parties, the process will take longer than a domain registration. Please allow between 7-10 days for your domain name to complete its transfer process.
Question:
How much does it cost to transfer a domain name?
Answer: Domain name transfers cost $21 and will extend the expiration date of your domain 1 year.
Question:
How do I unlock my domain to transfer it?
Answer: To unlock your domain to complete a transfer, you will need to login to your current registrar's domain management interface and unlock it, or contact them to have them unlock it.
Once that is done, you can start or restart the transfer.
Question:
I want to transfer my domain, but it is expired. What do I do?
Answer: To be sure to retain ownership of your domain(s), you should contact your current registrar and renew with them. Once the domain has been renewed for at least 7 days, we can resubmit the transfer request.
Per ICANN policy, no registrar can transfer a domain once it has expired.
Question:
How do I renew a domain with you that was originally registered elsewhere?
Answer: This is called a transfer. It is fairly easy to do. See above.

Question: What is url redirection?
Answer: DNS Plus provides URL Redirection or Web Forwarding. An option with Web Forwarding is to cloak the forwarding, hiding the URL of the page that you are forwarding to and keeping your domain name in your visitor's browser.
Turn this:
http://www.geowebsites.com/121212/ReallyLongURL/homepage.html
Into this:
http://www.johndoe.com
That works fine, but what if you want to change the text that appears in the browser's title area? Or manage keywords and descriptions to help people find you? That is where our Advanced Web Forwarding comes in. It allows you to add a title, keywords and a description to your cloaked Web Forwarding, and more!
Question: What is domain name parking?
Answer: In order to register a domain name you need to have some place to "park" or keep that domain. Many users register domain names before they are taken by someone else, but aren't ready to do something with them. nyborllc.com allows you to park your domains for free.
Question:
Why would I need your DNS Plus?
Answer: If you use another service, like everyone.net, you need to make a DNS entry above and beyond normal Web Redirection. You need to point your mail to everyone.net. Using the DNS Management service is how you can manage your own domain so that it works the way you want.

Question:
What if I exceed the Bandwidth Limits?
Answer: If a single domain goes over 200 MB of transfer during a year, then it counts as TWO domain years, if it goes over 400 MB, then it counts as three, etc. DNS hits are Usually cached, so even the busiest sites won't go over the 200 MB limit. 200 MB is about 1,000,000 DNS queries. A typical site uses 5 MB per year of DNS bandwidth. Each domain year will be billed at the regular rate of $9.95.

Question:
Where is my domain name "hosted"?
Answer: When you register a domain name, whether it is through Nyborllc.com.com or another Registrar, you control where your domain is "hosted" or "parked" by the name server configurations for your domain name. The term "parked" refers to where or who is providing name server services for your domain name. Typically this is your web hosting provider, ISP or Registrar.
Question:
What are nameservers?
Answer: Nameservers give computers name-to-IP address associations for domain names. They enable us to refer to web sites and email addresses by human-readable names instead of hard to remember numbers.
A domain name must have at least two nameservers, a primary and secondary. If you are using a web hosting service or an ISP, please check with them on what nameservers you should use for your domain name.
